Thinking of the Beauty of Australia!
There is so much in the news at the moment about the dreadful fires and loss of life, humans, pets, farm animals and wildlife. It is a tragedy for those in the many fire zones. It seems like an apocalypse. There are thousands of brave firefighters, many volunteers, who have been fighting these fires for months now.
I just want to remind everyone what a beautiful country Australia is by sharing some of the pictures of mine and some of other Australians. We will recover but it will take a long time and some believe that some of our native wildlife may now be extinct.

JWildfire 5.50 release: new gradient-curve-editor
Just released JWildfire V5.50 as another major update. This time, introducing a new color-editing-function that makes it easier to control the final result: the color-curve-editor. It allows a very interactive editing of the gradient and the flame at the same time. Additionally, it allows more direct control over modifying the colors of a gradient, making it much easier to create "dramatic" effects. (Internally, each gradient now consist both of the "classic" part of the gradient and three new curves: hue, saturation and luminosity. Those curves belong to the flames, and are also stored within the flame-files.)

URGENT: Invasion of the Old Account Hijackers
Since mid-autumn 2018, I've been seeing a number of legitimate-looking DeviantArt accounts who've been around for years and whose owners have, depending on the account, established decent bodies of work and have interacted in non-suspicious ways with other Deviants…but those were all years ago, and they're now suddenly and randomly adding my work as well as that of others to their favorites. I can tell the accounts are all being hijacked because every About section or most recent status update of each hijacked page contains in its text a spam link to a pornography Website.

Deviantart is about to be Eclipsed...
Update: Read the latest at the END.
Just a warning, I will be closing my groups when Eclipse goes live. I have decided not to trouble myself with trying to maintain a group where the mechanism to do is unpleasant or inefficient. My experience so far with Eclipse is so negative on a desktop system that it is almost unworkable. It is slow, half the menus are off-screen, and the interface is alien to a desktop user. What I need is a responsive UIX that works for both types of user, tablet and desktop. Eclipse is a tablet based UI that might just kill DA as I suggest the majority of DA's serious artists are primarily desktop users.
If DA is to

Ant-Semitic, Anti-Israel message to be taught
IN CALIFORNIA SCHOOLS:
Not only does the curriculum neglect to acknowledge discrimination and persecution directed towards Jews in California and around the world, it actively vilifies Jews.
The proposed curriculum contains classic anti-Semitic tropes. In one case – in a section dedicated to addressing “Arab stereotypes” – the curriculum recommends song lyrics that say Israelis “use the press so they can manufacture,” echoing an age-old charge that Jews control the media.
The curriculum goes on to condemn Israel and support anti-Semitic and unlawful boycotts against Jewish people and businesses.

Eclipse's Force - DeviantART is no longer Deviant
I have long been wondering why I have missed so much of the early 'involvement' of the community regarding Eclipse whereas I'm active on DA on a daily basis. Why am I only now experiencing Eclipse being shoved down my throat? Have I truly been sleeping?
I have been an active user for 12 years. I’m online every day, since the day I joined and I have been a Core Member for many years, thereby supporting DA financially for a long time. This website and it has been my home for all these years and I have always loved this place. However, now I am very worried about the forced changes of Eclipse. I cannot recall a vote about it and I can
What is art and how does it work? by Malintra-Shadowmoon, journal
What is art and how does it work?
What is art really?
Art is much more than just the original expression that it is a learnable skill which can be refined through technique and practice and run to mastery.
The product of art is created by human hands and is not natural, but something artificial - not necessarily something alive, but something that can be quite alive through the artist's hand and world of thought.
There are five different art product branches:
- Visual arts
- Music
- Literature
- Performing arts
- Media art
With their respective subcategories:
- Painting, graphics, sculpture, architecture, photography, comics and crafts
- Composition and interpretation, e
The '97%' number has ALWAYS been bogus. by Kajm, journal
The '97%' number has ALWAYS been bogus.
'So how did Cook and his team come up with the 97 percent number? They added up the first three categories (3,896 papers), compared them to the last three categories (78 papers) and the papers expressing uncertainty (40 papers), and completely ignored the nearly 8,000 papers that did not state a position.
Of the papers Cook's team characterized as stating a position, 97 percent (3,896 of the 4,014 papers) favored the idea of man-made global warming.
See the problem? The study completely discounted the majority of the papers it analyzed (66.4 percent — 7,930 of the 11,944 papers analyzed). With those papers included, only 32.6 percent of
