think that this is a plant that should be nurtured, it has great photographic possibilities. what i like about this one is the differing sizes of the drops themselves and their differing magnification strengths.
Mike - the optical properties of different sized drops are worth studying, but different liquids have even more potential. I tried glycerine (no shot posted) and there is better magnification. I really need to go to a heavy, but colourless transparent oil. Such substances used to be used in microscope lenses for their optical properties.
we (you) are now moving into lens design territory. it's all about refraction and the reflected light that we see. try some of the medical oils as they are usually clear and pure. the results should be interesting
That is an interesting comment - I did these shots as an experiment, but when I saw them I thought they were worth posting to see what reaction they might cause - scary was not what I was expecting!!
Feeling scared at first, was the first reaction I've got, mainly due to the combination and well matching of red and dark grey colors...I felt like my skin burned and dried, and only my veins were going to explode with blood inside them..
But when I calm a little, I feel only tiny and insignficant near this piece of divine creation that no human can match to its beauty and details.
