Description
A set of photographs, some infrared (IR), some visible spectrum, of a couple of species of spider. Note that these are macro shots, hand-held and that no spider was damaged by this work.
This is, I believe, a species called a garden spider. To us this would be the underside. This must be the most interesting if not spectacular of the set of shots. In this IR image, the spider can be seen exuding a thread of silk from the silk gland. The silk is attached to the end of one leg and that leg then places the silk on part of the web. Markings are also clearly seen.
