beautiful bird, I love Heron's.
I see them all the time, blue's are quite common where I live.
these shots with this lens is really making me want to get to that 400mm range.

Many thanks for these comments - I took about 20 shots here and around of this bird - it kept moving. I was pleased with this one as I can see the striations in the feathers. However, handling this lens is difficult - it is heavy and being a push-pull is also tricky to use.

ugh... i hate push pull lenses, I had one for awhile that I just couldn't seem to get used to so I sold it. if the long end was 400mm I think I could have learned to love it though

I know what you mean, but the push-pull itself is not so bad once you get the hang of it. It is the weight on top that can make it a bit awkward. But the results can be good.
