Castle Sforza Milan Ceiling Fresco 2

There are a number of superb ceiling frescoes dating from the 15th Century to be found in the Castle Sforza in Milan. Digital photography is particularly good are brining out the colour and detail in these works.

This rather odd example may seem to be a complete jumble and mess; yet is probably the most important of them all. It was painted by Leonardo da Vinci - yes that Leonardo - painted sometime in the period 1482-1499 for Duke Ludivico. It is all that is left of a an arbour scene with vines and trees and foliage that would have covered the walls and ceiling. In the centre you can see the coat of arms of Ludivico Sforza.
