Many thanks, Angela - this is an "early" work in IR and I took the shot for a particular reason: Some books say that IR images can show old paths hidden by disuse, or otherwise covered up. There is such a barely visible path in the field, but it does not show up. So I was disappointed and wasn't going to post this at all, but ...

Glad you like it.

Cheers

are your IR cameras set digital? I really would like to set up one of my cameras for IR photography but I can't afford to because I need my cameras to shoot normal and I don't have a spare :-)

Angela - my Canon 20D was converted to IR, and I recently converted my Canon 40D to full spectrum. My Canon 5D Mark2 is still intact, and I have no plans to convert it. However, I shoot IR on it using a filter and long exposure times. This very useful tutorial was posted at the Group the other day [link] - shows you the basics.

I might have to look into getting a filter

Angela - An R72 is the most common one to start with, and they are probably the most readily available in different sizes.

and you use a digital camera with them not film?
Reply
:iconokavanga:
Correct, Angela. For film work you would have to use infrared film in such an older camera.

It's almost like a shot from an alien world, a world of amber brown sky and snow white vegetation.

Hi again - One of the appeals of working in IR photography is this alien or surreal look. Normal rules about colours simply do not hold.
